Accessibility Statement – Mad Running Junkies
(South Wales, UK | Last updated: November 2025)
Mad Running Junkies is committed to making our events, website, and services as accessible and inclusive as possible for all runners, supporters, and visitors – regardless of age, disability, neurodiversity, or personal circumstances.
We recognise that trail running takes place in the natural environment of the South Wales valleys, mountains, and coast, which can present challenges. We will always do our best to remove unnecessary barriers while keeping the spirit of wild, adventurous running alive.

2. Our events
Trail races are, by their nature, held on uneven, hilly, and sometimes technical terrain in the Brecon Beacons National Park / Bannau Brycheiniog, Vale of Glamorgan, Gower, and other South Wales locations. We are honest that not every route will be suitable for every runner, but we offer the following wherever possible:
-
A range of distances (from 5 km to ultra) so you can choose what suits your ability
-
Clear course descriptions, elevation profiles, and “difficulty rating” on every event page
-
Guided or “sweep” runners available on many events for anyone who wants extra support
-
Option to have a guide runner (we can help pair you if needed)
-
Early or adjusted start times for runners who may take longer
-
Accessible parking and drop-off points as close as reasonably possible to registration
-
Accessible toilets at race HQ where the venue allows
-
Quiet zone or headphones-off area at busy starts/finishes for neurodivergent runners
-
Medical and welfare team briefed on common disabilities and access needs
-
Policy that assistance dogs are always welcome at race HQ and on non-mandatory sections of courses
We collect optional accessibility information during registration so we can support you better on the day.
3. Communication
-
Race information packs are available in large-print or plain-text versions on request
-
We’re happy to speak on the phone or WhatsApp if reading long emails is difficult
-
British Sign Language interpreter can be arranged for briefings with reasonable notice
4. Feedback and complaints
We want to keep improving. If something isn’t accessible or you have a suggestion, please contact:

5. Ongoing commitment
This statement is reviewed every year (or sooner if rules or best practice change). We work with local disability groups and runners with lived experience to make sure our events and services keep getting better for everyone in the South Wales running community.
Thank you for running with us – we’ll move mountains (or at least the South Wales ones) to make sure you can too.
